Details

The RQT Development Programme is aimed at teachers in their first five years of teaching. The programme will be delivered over 6 afternoons during the academic year and will include lunch on arrival. It will provide RQT's with knowledge, experience and training in key areas of professional development. These will include;

Session 1 - High Quality teaching & Learning (29th January 2019 - 9.30am - 1.00pm)
The session will include;-

  • analysis of a range of filmed lessons
  • understanding 'what makes the difference'
  • determining your own non-negotiables for your classroom to ensure you are a high performing teacher.

Session 2 - Driving Progress (29th January 2019 - 12.30pm - 4pm)
The session will include;-

  • Provision for vulnerable groups within the classroom
  • Tracking interventions to ensure impact
  • Understanding how class data contributes to whole school data
  • Taking ownership of pupil progress meetings & teacher accountability

Session 3 - Subject Leadership (27th February 2019)
The session will include;-

  • Expectations of a subject leader
  • Auditing provision and standards
  • Action planning
  • Leading & supporting others
  • Driving improvements
  • Monitoring and evaluating impact

Session 4 - Mind, Body & Soul (27th March 2019)
The session will include;-

  • Stretch, Reflect & Respond - A Christian approach to wellbeing for pupils and staff
  • Supporting SEMH & developing an ADHD/ASD friendly classroom
  • Staff reflection & opportunities for pupils' spiritual growth

Session 5 - Managing difficult conversations (1st May 2019)
The session will include;-

  • Engaging parents and coping with challenge
  • Managing support staff
  • Understanding how to adapt your approach to different personalities
  • Building positive relationships across the school community

Session 6 - Professional development & accountability (18th June 2019)
The session will include;-

  • Progression and performance expectations within the main pay scale
  • Conduct, HR policies and employment procedures
  • Self-awareness & reflecting on personal practice
  • Identifying own targets for improvement and taking ownership of your professional development
