SCCIP Events
The Scottish Climate Change Impacts Partnership (SCCIP), in partnership with other organisations, is delivering a calendar of events during 2010 to:
Promote awareness and understanding of climate change impacts and the need to adapt;
Provide information about the latest climate projections;
Provide training to support the use of tools (in particular UKCP09, vulnerability/risk assessment); and
Share ideas, information, insights and good practice.
Please see below for scheduled events. Most are open, but some are by invitation only. Information on previous events, including copies of presentations, is availabe via the SCCIP website. As part of the ongoing work on the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (UKCCRA), this workshop will form part of the regional assessment and will give stakeholders an opportunity to discuss which sectors are important for Scotland and which risks they would like to see reflected in the UKCCRA.
Objectives of the workshop:
• Ensure that participants have a common understanding of what the UKCCRA involves and are clear about the work that has been done so far.
• Provide an opportunity for participants to input in to defining what specific climate change impacts are important for them, which are important for Scotland and to identify any further evidence they are aware of to support this.
• Review the outputs from the UK-wide sector-based assessment, in particular the list of climate impacts, to identify the priority omissions that should be addressed in the Scotland-focussed assessment.
• Inform how any additional impacts could be measured (using risk metrics) and what data would be required to do this.
• Brief participants on how the results of their input will be used to complete the risk assessment and in the subsequent economic assessment of adaptation.
Before the Event
Reference material will be sent out in early August to both the participants and those wishing to be involved in the process, but unable to attend.
