During the last year, there has been an awakening that being active can make you feel good. It reduces the risk of developing depression by up to 30% and should be one of the first treatments recommended by GPs when you present with mild to moderate depression. It’s often described as a ‘miracle cure’ but the picture is more nuanced.
Join Mind’s physical activity lead to explore how physical activity can be life changing and sometimes life-saving, but equally how the barriers can feel immense and for some physical activity itself can become a problem.
Explore the evidence from Loughborough University’s evaluation of the Get Set to Go programme and consider how to apply this in your setting. Learn about resources and tools that can support you to make your own programmes more inclusive and support the 1 in 4 of us experiencing mental health problems.
