Essential Ashtanga: Through practice and discussion, in this workshop we will explore the interconnectedness of the whole body. This workshop is sophisticated enough for all level of practitioner to benefit. We will focus on awareness and understanding to find grace, rather than physical vigor. This will create the context for your effort in daily practice to bear the most fruit.

Yoga beyond Asana: This workshop will explore concepts from the Upanishads that shape the eastern worldview. This paradigm is the contextual framework out of which yoga is born. As a modern yoga practitioner, you will be able to fit contemporary yoga practice into an ancient wisdom tradition. We will explore yogic theories and concepts such as conditioned living, the causes of suffering, the means of liberation, and the purpose of life. Come with an open mind, and you will leave inspired.

An historical overview of Indian thought from the Vedas to Modern Yoga: Indian thought has developed over the course of thousands of years. It is in the midst of a modern renaissance and cultural exchange in the west. This workshop will help you to see how yoga has developed and changed throughout its long history to create the diversity of techniques we see represented today in both the east and the west. You will see the different developments that led to variety in yogic styles and literature, as well as the common points that indicate authenticity in the midst of this diversity.

Core, jumping back and jumping through: We will explore how to utilize the full strength of the torso and bandhas to support our body weight. This will facilitate the smooth transition of energy necessary for graceful jump backs and jump throughs. We will also explore the spine as a smooth chain for the rolling poses in the second half of primary series.

About Greg
Greg Nardi has studied yoga and eastern healing arts extensively since 1996. Since 1999 he has studied at the KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, South India.

In 2004, Greg was authorized to teach by his guru, Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. In 2009, at the age of 94, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois passed away leaving behind a legacy that has touched countless lives around the world. Shortly after Guruji’s passing, Greg attended an authorization level 2 training course in Mysore with Sharath Jois. Greg is committed to honoring his teachers by spreading the ashtanga method, which has been such a blessing in his life.

He is an internationally renowned teacher of workshops in Yoga asana and philosophy. He and his husband Juan Carlos founded Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide a Yoga shala in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. in the United States.

He is an autodidact who perpetually studies Sanskrit chanting and indian philosophy. He counts Georg Feuerstein, Dr. M.A. Jayashree, Narasimha, and Vyass Houston amongst his influences in this field. He teaches yoga philosophy and Sanskrit mantra chanting as a faculty member of John Scott Yoga.

Greg’s view on yoga respects the indian roots of the Yoga tradition and the parampara method of transmission while making these traditions intelligible to the western practitioner. His style of teaching assists students in finding the approach to the practice that is most beneficial for them.
