In this afternoon session, Carol will introduce simple crochet techniques which the modern knitter will find useful. You will learn how to do provisional cast-ons with a crochet hook, progress from a simple slip knot to crochet a chain, learn the basic slip stitch and the single crochet stitch.
Carol will demonstrate how these basic stitches can be applied to a wide range of uses in knitting.
Topics covered will include: provisional cast-ons using a crochet hook - useful for hats, necklines, hems.
Crochet techniques for finishing garments, creating buttonholes, joining seams, applying simple edgings and embellishments and surface embroidery.
You will need to bring a 4mm crochet hook and two 12cm x 12cm pure wool knitted swatches using either dk or worsted (light aran) weight wool.
