Drawing allows both an immediate and intimate response to what we see. Seeing is feeling: this is what Cezanne was alluding to when he said: "nature is within us…"
For the artist, drawing is an extension of this process.
The issue then is what to bring to the light, what to project, of this interior life and then how to couple this to what’s observed; how to fully exploit the expressive potential of forms thus seen. Drawing, therefore, is a means to self-knowledge and creative strength.
This course provides a special opportunity to centre on observational drawing with the aim of providing a strong foundation for your art practice. We will work with a variety of objects such as plaster casts and still life. In conjunction, a variety of media will be explored.
