Whereas Flora part 1 focussed on direct observation of selected plant specimens, Flora part 2 takes a more open-ended and abstract approach to representing nature and working with floral motifs. Again using botanicals as inspiration, we’ll explore a range of innovative mark-making, expressive drawing and painting methods, tools and applications.
Students will develop strategies for creating dynamic and non-representational images that reference nature in more subtle and emotive ways. Beginning with class group activities, we’ll work towards slower and more self-directed projects that will give plenty of scope for development beyond the classroom.
Suitable for any level of experience. You do not need to have completed Flora part 1, although students are actively encouraged to take both classes.
