This online course will give you the chance to try some simple printmaking techniques at home. Join your tutor from your kitchen table (or any table ) and discover the joys of creating prints.
The techniques taught in this online course can be used alone or together to create multi-layered images. The tutor will show artist examples and demonstrate techniques to making artwork without a press.

Course requirements:
Reliable desktop computer/smartphone/laptop
Internet connection /wireless
Webcam /microphone
Zoom account can use a free version

Materials - for the first class please have ready:
Some old newspaper to cover your workspace and help keep your table clean.
A4 drawing paper (not cartridge)
Thin plastic sheet/s (these can be plastic folder dividers it needs to be heavier than a plastic bag could even be something that has been laminated.
Xacto knife, scissors
Brushes, sponge, old EFTPOS card (or similar)
Tape
Pencil
Acrylic paints: start by using what you already have (contact tutor if you have any questions about what you have to use)
We will cover what else we need for the course on the first day. This way we can talk about using things you might already have around home.

Schedule:
Session 1 Introduction to the course and materials (discussed in depth) and using stencils as a start to printmaking. Tutor will demonstrate creating and working with a stencil. Students practice.
Session 2-3 Monotype and the use of a painterly print. We will build on using the stencils, and taking the plastic one step further. Tutor demonstration, students practice.
Session 4-5 Creating Collagraphs and finding textures to print. Tutor demonstration, students practice.
Session 6 How to use all the techniques together to create a final image.

Thin plastic sheet/s (these can be plastic folder dividers it needs to be heavier than a plastic bag could even be something that has been laminated.
