This 9-week course is suitable for both beginners and those wanting to invigorate a current arts practice. It emphasizes creative thinking, posing questions that inspire new and innovative visual solutions. If you’re stuck in a rut or seeking motivation and less conventional, non-traditional means of visually expressing yourself, then this open-ended, mixed media course could be for you.
Predominantly a drawing course, Ignite examines contemporary drawing practice, full of infinite possibility, experimentation and play. Using a wide range of media and methods, analyzing the work of some of today’s eminent practitioners along the way, this course will provide a more process-driven and conceptual, ideas-based approach to making marks. Hands-on creative challenges, collaborative learning, and investigation will help to push your practice in new and exciting directions no matter what media you favour. We work at your own pace and with your own personal goals in mind so any level of experience is welcome.
By the end of this course, students will have a greater appreciation and understanding of contemporary art, have gained confidence in their own ability, and will have the momentum to continue their practice beyond the classroom.
