Details

'Core' - a word so often used, and with the implication that we are supposed to know what and where our core is and how to use it. So why do I so often hear people say "I have no core", "I don't know how to engage my core", or I'm asked "Am I doing it right?"
So actually what DOES it mean to move from our core, or to find our core stability?
I fundamentally believe that we all have a strong core, we just have to access it.
In this workshop we will explore the concept of core, and how our understanding can positively or negatively affect how we move. Importantly you will learn what moving from your core feels like for you and how this can help you move with more connection and ease.
In the first part of this workshop we'll consider what we really mean by core (NB: more than a set of muscles!) and how this relates to and interacts with the rest of our body and how we move. We will some simple functional, pilates and centering movements to help you to find connection and ease with your core.
This section involve some discussion and some simple gentle exercises which we will chat through.
Following a tea break, the second part of the workshop, is more about experiencing your own core awareness with some gentle hatha and yin yoga poses. It is aimed at increasing inner awareness and connection with your core and your self. This will be a quieter and gentle practice giving you time and space to feel and experience what you need.
Suitable for anyone :-) no previous pilates or yoga experience is required, just a willingness to enjoy moving well.
