Throwing Lidded Pots

In this new intermediate throwing course, your tutor will demonstrate throwing vessels with various types of lids. You will get plenty of hands-on practice with throwing pots focusing on improving height and evenness on the wheel, whilst learning some techniques for making lidded pots with well-fitting lids.

We’ll be experimenting with forms and then exploring various methods making different shaped lids, and learning how to make a gallery.

You'll also learn to throw off the hump and learning how to glaze a lidded pot, including learning glaze resist using wax and tape

It's ideal for anyone who has learnt the basics of centering and throwing a cylinder and who wishes to broaden their skills and improve. Particularly suitable as a follow-up for anyone who has attended one of our Beginner's Throwing courses.

This course is led by Rosie, and runs on consecutive Fridays for 3 hours each time.

As this is a structured course that builds on the previous week, absences cannot be made up. Therefore please ensure you can attend every session.

The course is open to adults (18+).

Cost includes instruction, refreshments and five pots* to keep. These will be fired after the course and ready to pick up a few weeks later. We recycle any extra pots at greenware stage.

*Additional pots: If you would like to keep any more than five pots, these will be weighed and charged for per 100g to cover material and firing costs.
