Details

"One of the classic Chiltern walks, Discover Ashridge starts at the Bridgewater monument on the Ashridge Estate. We pass through the village of Albury with its pond and ancient stocks, then we join the Ridgeway National Trail said to be the oldest 'road' in Britain. Our route takes us through wooded Albury Nowers, and leaving the wood we head out onto Pitstone Hill where the fabulous views begin and continue all the way to Ivinghoe Beacon, the end of the Ridgeway National trail. From the Beacon our route is in the stunning beech woodlands back to the start where there is a National Trust cafe. The plan is to take a break at the Beacon if the weather is good. A more energetic walk today with a few stops to take in the views, and some brief stops for explanations too.

Straightforward walking on good paths. The walk is 8.7 miles, 14km. Ascent and descent 1007ft, 307m."
