Canine Field Day

søndag, 24 november '19   15:00 – 18:00 EST

Detaljer

Join us for a field day for Fidos!

It's an off leash outdoor adventure at Congaree and Penn's back field and oak hammocks. Humans, enjoy a pop up bar while your canines indulge in a field of dog dreams.

Arrive whenever you'd like during the scheduled time frame.

_

How it Works

  1. Register online.

  2. When you arrive, check in at the quonset hut taproom. You'll be required to sign a waiver of liability and then given a wristband so that the Congaree and Penn team knows that you and your dog are registered. You'll also receive a map to guide you to the back field and oak hammocks (the off leash destinations).

  3. Enjoy a 10 - 15 minute walk with your dog on leash to the back field. Think of it as warm up! Once you've reached the marker in the back field, Fido is free to run free!

The Rules

  1. Humans must sign a waiver of liability to participate.

  2. Dogs must remain on leash until they reach the designated off leash destination. Retractable leashes are prohibited; they're really dangerous.

  3. Humans and dogs must be willing and physically capable of walking to and from the off leash destination. The walk is a 10 - 15 minute commute each way.

  4. All participating dogs must be at least four months of age.

  5. All participating dogs must be current on rabies and distemper vaccinations.
Dogs must be in full view and within voice control of their owner. Owners must pay attention to their dog’s behavior and carry a leash at all times.

  6. Dogs must never be left unattended.

  7. Two dogs maximum per human.

  8. Human guests must be 18 years or older to participate in Canine Field Day.

  9. Dogs showing signs of aggressive behavior will be asked to leave.

  10. Please clean up after your dog immediately. Bags will be available at the quonset hut and at the Back Field Bar. Please dispose of waste in a waste bin.
    Please do not litter.

  11. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.

FAQs

Q / How much room is there for my dog to run?
A / Acres. Like a hundred of them.

Q / Is the off leash area fenced?
A / The entire 350 acre farm is fenced, but the off leash area does not have its own interior fence. We recommend that your dog is well versed in coming when he is called, but your dog would have to run across 100 acres from the back field and oak hammocks to the quonset hut parking lot to escape the property.

Q / Can my dog swim in the designated off leash area?
A / Yes! You may allow your dog to swim at your own risk. You'll find creeks and ponds throughout the oak hammock.

Q / Should I worry about snakes and alligators?
A / Not really. You might see a harmless snake, but you won't see an alligator. We do encourage you to check your dog for ticks after your adventure.

Q / What should I wear?
A / We recommend wearing "outdoor shoes." Close toed footwear that you don't mind getting a bit of dirt on (like hiking boots or rain boots or a pair of well loved sneakers). It it's been raining at the farm, the ground might be muddy and puddly in spots. Insect repellant is a good idea, too.

Q / So there's a bar in the back field?
A / Yes! A pop up bar. You're welcome to grab a drink at the quonset hut, and you're welcome to grab another when you arrive in the back field.

Q / Will my dog have water to drink?
A / Yes! We'll have watering stations at the quonset hut and in the back field.

Q / Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?
A / Yes. If your dog is mature enough to be spayed or neutered, she or he should be. We understand that large dogs (like our own Great Dane and Irish Wolfhound) should not be altered until they are finished growing. Use your best discretion.

Q / What happens if it rains?
A / If it sprinkles, enjoy it. If heavy rain is forecasted, we'll cancel the event and notify you by email at least one hour prior to the event. You'll be given store credit to use for another Canine Field Day or other event at the farm.
