Move to the music in a Creative Movement dance class for adults with Dementia led by DanceWest. Build
confidence by learning exercises and fun routines that increase your strength and balance. Regular dancing
reduces the risk of dementia by 76%, twice as much as reading (New England Journal of Medicine 2018). Our
classes will enable you to get fit whilst having fun.

Times
11.15am: arrive and register
11.30-12.15: take part in the dance class
12.15-12.45: optional tea, coffee and chat!

Teaching this class is Jane:
Jane is a dance educator who has worked in the dance sector for 20 years. She trained at Trinity Laban focusing on education and participatory dance and has an MA from London Contemporary Dance School specialising in creative practice, somatics and dance pedagogy. She has extensive teaching experience across both formal education and community settings working with all ages and abilities from pre-school to older adults. Jane has taught across the full spectrum of educational settings from primary schools to secondary schools (GCSE, Btec and A Level) and extensively at university level. Jane has 15 years experience teaching in a range of London universities (Roehampton, Kings College London, Kingston University and Brunel) delivering on the BA & MA modules in the field of Participatory Dance, Teaching & Leading, Professional Practice and Dance for Health. As an independent dance artist, she has taught for many renowned dance companies including Hofesh Shetcher, English National Ballet, Richard Alston and Cullberg Ballet. As a dance education consultant she has created education resources for Russell Maliphant, Jasmin Vardimon and Shobana Jeyasingh. Jane completed a two-year Yoga Teacher Training Diploma at The Life Centre London. She is currently teaching adult yoga classes and delivers specialist sessions focusing on Teen Yoga, Yoga for Sport and one to one sessions for specific health conditions and injury rehabilitation.
