In April 2023, we held our annual in-person DCN members' conference in London with some really great talks from donor conceived young people and others in the donor conception world. We wanted to share the event with more people and so we're running this virtual conference, which includes recordings of the highlights from the presentations, live Q&A and small discussion groups.

As the event is for members, we're offering a limited number of special offer tickets which combine a year's DCN membership with attendance at the event. This gives a £10 discount off the standard fee providing access to all our wonderful member services, including our online chat groups, welcoming team, WhatsApp groups etc.

The Virtual Conference

Hosted by Danny, a long-standing member, our virtual conference will include a recording of the morning panel of donor conceived young people from April, discussing their thoughts on being donor conceived. We'll hear from Jamie, Carly, Gee and Ollie who come from a variety of family types including surrogacy. The feedback we received from the presentation was excellent and we thought it was definitely worth giving people the chance to hear them and then ask questions as they will be with us to do a live Q&A.

We also had great feedback about Dr Lucy Frith speaking about the fascinating ConnecteDNA research into how DNA is changing the way we find out about genetic relatives. We will be showing a recording of her talk, followed by a live Q&A.

Our conferences are always a lovely opportunity for people to meet others and, although this event is online, we are going to recreate some of that in our virtual small group "meet and greet" break-out rooms. This will preserve the really valuable element of networking, sharing and support that our in-person conferences offer.

Event details:

• The conference is on Saturday, 1st July and is being held in the afternoon from 2pm to 5.30pm to make it more accessible to those outside the UK and those who have activities on a Saturday morning.

• It’s appropriate whether you’re at the early stages of considering donor conception or have children already.

• This is an adult event and the small groups in particular need a bit of private space, so do make sure any children are suitably occupied and not in the same room as you for the duration of the conference.

• Numbers are capped to make sure the Zoom experience isn’t overwhelming.
