Colour is at the root of painting and is fundamental to building successful paintings. Yet colour is an unfixed and nebulous material.
In this workshop, you will explore colour through practical application, play and invention. We will use colour to link historic and contemporary artists, exploring the different ways one can use colour in mixing so as to create a sense of harmony, space, and movement.
This will be a fun, yet comprehensive class, complete with examples and ideas that provide important strategies for negotiating colour. Students are free to work in whichever medium they choose: acrylic, oil colour, and watercolour. Although best suited to those with some experience, beginners will pick up invaluable lessons.
Some materials will be provided, but please bring:
Artists quality paints – at least a yellow, red, blue and white
Brushes
Palette
300gsm paper (Britannia matte is a good, inexpensive choice)
Notebook and pen
Scissors
A glue stick
