Gain insight into what nourishes you, learn practical tools to assist in the day to day, make connections and learn alongside other parents.

This workshop will include some ways of planning and thinking about your resilience and how to maintain your well-being both in moments of difficulty, and over the longer term. You will learn practical and creative tools, movement and relaxation skills to find the foundations of what resilience looks like for you.

Who are we:
Lou Shackleton
For the past twenty years, I’ve been fascinated with change and transitions and their effect on us humans. This fascination started when I studied for my degree in Psychology.

My interest in motivation and resilience was sparked and since then, I’ve worked with people who want to change things – in their own life, in their work, or in their organisation (and, sometimes, all three!).

I've worked with people with acquired brain injury and with learning disabilities who needed some help taking control when changes feel like something happening to them, not with them. This gave me some really creative but simple and empowering tools.

All too often changes come with questions around identity and I love helping people find the anchors and clarity to help them navigate tricky times. I now have a whole toolkit I have collected and tested with myself and others.

I also play the ukulele badly and enjoy snuggles with my three month old son, Alex. We live in Cambridge and love walks by the river with tea and cake at the end.

Bryony Vickers
Since having my first child at 23 I have always had an interest in supporting others through the journey of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. As an adult, I studied permaculture and sustainability and have worked in both Australia and the UK in community engagement roles supporting groups to work towards environmental responsibility and community cohesion. I have practised yoga in various forms since 2002 and began facilitating perinatal yoga classes in 2012.
I now teach Birthlight classes from pregnancy through baby and toddlerhood. and provide private support to families through the exciting journey of growing, birthing and caring for their children. I offer sessions to heal after birth, both physically and emotionally.
I also provide classes and one to one counselling (as a trainee counsellor placement) within the Small Steps Together team in Ormiston Families, providing support for women who are struggling with mental health and wellness needs. I train teachers for Birthlight International and have delivered courses in Germany, Australia, Ireland and the UK.
I know from my personal and professional experience that the ways we are supported and our experiences through this time of our lives are incredibly important for both parents and children.
In my spare time I love to spend as much time as possible with my gorgeous family, do various crafty things, practice yoga and meditation and have my hands in the soil.
