Ready to take your local food experience to the next level? Interested in hunting, but lack field experience? Then, Hunt for Food, Turkey, offered at Westby Rod and Gun Club April 13–15, might be just right for you!

Wisconsin’s woods and waters provide a variety of delicious local, sustainable food. Hunt for Food, Turkey, teaches you the skills needed to harvest a wild turkey. Designed for adults, this course aims to show how hunting is directly connected to conservation and healthy living— and that it’s easy, fun, and inclusive. Students will learn from experienced hunters and will have the opportunity to ask unlimited questions Students will also learn how to obtain Hunter Safety certification, though certification is not required to participate in the hunt.

Class begins Friday evening with a wild game potluck and an overview of biology and regulations. Shooting and scouting are taught Saturday morning, followed by a hands-on hunting experience with a seasoned mentor Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Hunting equipment and firearms are provided and no license is necessary Hunt for Food, Turkey, is offered free of charge courtesy of the Wisconsin DNR and National Wild Turkey Federation.
