Instructor: Nicholas WazeeGale
Knowing the plants around us that offer food and flavor has long been a human birthright. However, taking the first steps to safely venture into providing ourselves food from our plant neighbors can be intimidating. Come along for a day of learning, tasting and experiencing wild edibles of Spring in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. We will use methods to identify plants accurately by their family, characteristics, and the rich habitats where they are common as a safe starting point in wild food gathering. In early May there is generally an abundance of greens, blossoms, shoots, and still some good roots too. A great day of learning, sharing, and experiencing shall be had by all. Expect to be outdoors for the day (dress for the weather) and do a moderate amount of walking.
