"Cubism is like standing at a certain point on a mountain and looking around. If you go higher, things will look different; if you go lower, again they will look different. It is a point of view" Jacques Lipchitz

Using Picasso’s Cubist period as a starting point, students will learn to visually de-construct a still life with an approach that encourages an extended understanding of classical cubist concerns.

Observational drawings that have been arrived at through this process of interpretive re-construction, will be used as a basis from which to develop a large scale cubist painting. In this way, students gain a working knowledge of the essential balance between 2 and 3 dimensions and the interplay between representation and abstraction

Additionally, Brendan will also be bringing his product knowledge of a range of Golden paints and mediums to help students get the most out of the new acrylic products now available.

The course is suited to students of all levels of experience.
Students will take home a completed work.
