Ready for Baby - Baby Massage & Mum and Baby Yoga
Mum & Baby Yoga is a wonderful way to calm the mind and strengthen the body whilst enjoying time with your baby. Each week we will practise a variety of breathing and relaxation exercises alongside gentle movements to build up core strength, emotional well-being and overall fitness after birth by restoring tone to the deep muscles of the pelvis, abdomen and lower back. Classes can be joined following your 6/8-week postnatal check up until your baby is walking. It is a great way to ease yourself back into exercise as the moves are designed for you and your baby to do together so you can bond while getting fitter. You will learn techniques you can use at home when caring for your baby to benefit your own health and well-being.
Baby Massage is a wonderful way to interact and care for your baby. In research baby massage has been linked to:
- Periods of longer and deeper sleep
- Reduced crying
- Increased growth
- Reduction of stress hormones
- Improved immune system
- Improved bonding between parent and baby
- Reduced rates of postnatal depression
During the baby massage course, I will guide you through a sequence of massage strokes designed to calm and comfort your baby whilst promoting their physical and mental wellbeing. Each week we will build on the session before, starting with how to recognise a baby's cues and how to communicate with them using touch.
