Datos

This course uses Lisson Grove’s Quick Benefits Calculator (QBC) to examine some of the benefits rules that are needed to complete accurate calculations of Income Support, income based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Tax Credits.

This course can be booked as a single one-day course on 13th June or as part of a two-day course with Calculating Universal Credit (using QBC) on 14th June.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Be familiar with Lisson Grove’s QBC and how to input information;
  • Understand the main differences in the calculations between Income Support, income based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Tax Credits.
  • Understand how QBC calculates Housing Benefit for different tenant groups;
  • Understand underlying entitlement to Carer’s Allowance and how it affects means tested benefits;
  • Be able to recognise eligibility for the Severe Disability Premium and why this is important when using QBC;
  • Understand how income is assessed for benefits and tax credits purposes;
  • Be able to recognise typical data entry errors when using QBC;
  • Have access to advice regarding any QBC related question for 12 months after the course.

This is a practical course. It is delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, group work and exercises, case studies, group discussion and games.

This course is suitable for advisers who are required to complete means tested benefits calculations using Lisson Grove’s Quick Benefits Calculator (QBC). A working knowledge of the benefits system is assumed.

Please note: BTC will provide access to QBC during the course but licenses for use of QBC after the course must be purchased separately from Lisson Grove.
