This half day course looks at the Universal Credit calculation and uses the BTC calculation sheet to learn and practise how to complete UC calculations based on a range of typical scenarios. It enables participants to complete UC calculations accurately and without the need to use computer software.
By the end of the course participants will:
• Understand how Universal Credit is calculated;
• Be able to identify the elements that make up a maximum award;
• Know how different types of income and capital are assessed in UC;
• Be able to calculate UC accurately on behalf of clients and service users.
This course is for participants with a working knowledge of the benefits system and some knowledge of universal credit is helpful. If you are new to universal credit you should first attend our universal credit overview course.

You will receive and email with course link and a Dropbox link to the pack/slides in pdf format. You will need to download (or print) the pack before each part of the course. We recommend participants log in 5-10 minutes beforehand. You will need a good wifi connection and a suitable computer/device to access the Zoom session and the pack throughout. You may also wish to have a pen and paper to make notes.
