Details

Canoe along Wales' most untouched river

How long does the trip last? 2 - 2.5 Hours, depending on the size of the group, river levels.

Will I get wet/Capsize? Not normally - but as we're on the water there's always a chance you could get wet. We advise you bring a change of clothes.

What time should I arrive? Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled trip start time.

What should I wear? Wear comfortable, outdoor clothing with waterproofs and closed toe shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS)

What should I bring? You may want to bring water and some snacks in a small dry bag. You can bring a camera/phone in a dry bag but we cant be held responsible for any damage.

Do I need to be able to swim? No. You'll be given a buoyancy aid to keep you afloat and if you did enter the water our trained guides would be on hand to get you back in your boat quickly.

Can children go canoeing on their own? No. Under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What is the minimum age? On the Open Canoe trips we can take anyone from the age of 3 upwards. There is no upper age limit.

Do I need any previous experience? No experience is needed. You will be given a briefing at the beginning of your trip and are accompanied by Guides whilst on the water.

What facilities are available on site? On the nature reserve there is a car park café, toilets, adventure playgrounds. There are also great walking trails on the reserve through the gorge trail, the marshes and through to cardigan town.

Where do we meet? At slate cottage, a short walk from the car park, past the glasshouse centre and next to the adventure playground. We also have bike hire, changing rooms and a safe for valuables available at the canoe centre.

Postcode? SA43 2TB

Do you cater for disabilities? Yes - please let us know in advance if you require any special assistance.

Do your trips still run in the rain/stormy conditions? Yes - our trips run in all weathers and as such we advise that you come prepared with waterproofs and a spare change of clothes. Occasionally we may have to adjust or postpone trips due to high water levels or high tides, but we will always let you know at the latest a day before. If we have to cancel your trip for whatever reason we will always let you know at the latest the day before and you'll be entitled to a full refund.

What wildlife will we see? We regularly see kingfishers, buzzards, herons, dippers. Less regularly we see otters, peregrine falcons, red kites and red deer. Whilst we cant guarantee you'll see an otter, we can usually find their tracks to show you.
