4 WEEK BLOCK
Join artist Nicola Wiltshire for weekly studio sessions exploring painting through the medium of acrylic paint.
The classes will be a casual and relaxing space to explore painting with your chosen subject as the focal point. You will have the opportunity to try out a few mixed media approaches, including mixing in charcoal, collage, coloured pencils and pastels, but will mostly be working on your own painting, with guidance from the tutor.
This is not a class in realism. Instead, Nicola hopes to create an environment where you feel comfortable enough to develop your creative intuition and hone what makes your painting unique. This might include creating more abstract or expressive representations of your subject.
Over the weeks, you will gain a better understanding of how pattern, texture colour, line, form and composition can strengthen your painting.
Nicola Wiltshire is a full time artist born in Bedfordshire and living in Dundee, with a Ba Hon's Fine Art - University of Westminster (2009) and an MFA Art and Humanities - DJCAD.
Nicola has taught at McManus Museum and Art Gallery, Discovery, Verdant Works, Royal Scottish Academy, as well as schools, and community groups.
She mostly works in oil on fabric, with stylised drawings and paintings based on her everyday life, but also with pastels and ink on paper. Her subjects include people, places and still life.
Please bring a selection of materials that you wish to work with, some but not all materials may be available at the Centre.
