Howkers Supper - Community meal and ceilidh

Details

The Howker’s Supper celebrates the end of harvest by bringing together people for a free community meal, music, and dancing.

Join us at Forgan Arts Centre for a free supper curated by Sunshine Kitchen using ingredients grown at the art centre and donated by growers from across the community.

The Howkers’ Supper is a demonstration of mutual aid and sharing. We are asking the community to give something, whether it’s a contribution from your own harvest, help in setting the table, the telling of a story, or doing the dishes. The meal will be shared outside in our extensive grounds (weather permitting!) and dietary requirements will be catered for. After the meal, spurred on by music, drinks and merriment, there will be a ceilidh in the main hall of Forgan Arts Centre, so bring your dancing shoes!

Everyone, of all ages, are welcome to attend, just bring your own plate and fork. We will provide food, tea, coffee and still drinks, all free of charge. For those who’d like a tipple, there’s a cash bar on site.

Schedule -

1pm-5pm: Join us to help set up the banqueting table, decorate, and prepare the meal. All welcome, there will be plenty to do.

5pm-6pm: Supper time! We shall have our community supper and music

6.30-9pm: Grab your dancing shoes, we’ll be ceilidh dancing till the music stops!

If you would like to join us on the day in making and placing decorations at the centre for the event, to set up the banqueting table, or even to prepare the meal- please drop us an email to let us know your availability and what you can help with, the more the merrier!
