Early Years Safeguarding Lead Training

Safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of every early years’ provider of education and care. The consequences of inadequately trained practitioners, ineffective safeguarding policies and procedures can be devastating for all involved.

It is for this reason that when Ofsted are inspecting safeguarding arrangements they look for evidence of:

1. How effectively leaders and governors create a safeguarding culture in the setting
2. Arrangements for staff recruitment and vetting
3. The quality of safeguarding practice
4. Arrangements for handling serious incidents and allegations

Content - One day training covers:

1. Responsibilities, statutory legislation and best practice, including looking at creating an effective child protection policy
2. Importance of safer recruitment, training and supporting staff
3. Procedures to follow if you’re worried a child is being abused, including referrals
4. Importance of accurate record keeping
5. Managing allegations

Outcomes - Safeguarding leads will:

1. Understand their responsibilities in accordance with statutory legislation and best practice
2. Update their knowledge to be able to review their safeguarding policies
3. Be aware of the signs and indicators of child abuse and neglect
4. Understand how to support their staff around safeguarding concerns and manage allegations
5. Understand the importance of effective safer recruitment and accurate record keeping

Who is this training for?

Nursery owners, managers and all practitioners acting as safeguarding leads.

This is a public course open to anybody wishing to book a place or places for a group. Taking place in Keighley on Tuesday 26th September from 9:30am - 3:30pm
