New Leaders Programme: Year and Phase Leaders
4 x full day sessions with gap tasks.
Aimed at: Primary Year/Phase Leaders who are new in role or would like to improve the effectiveness of their leadership.

The Beechwood Teaching School Alliance New Year/Phase Leaders Programme offers practical training in the day to day duties and responsibilities of leading Year Teams and Phases. Participants will work alongside experienced leaders and fellow phase leaders to explore and gain hands on experience in all elements of the Year/Phase Leader's role at an introductory level.

Day One - 18th September 2018, Beechwood Junior School, 9:00am – 4:00pm The A-Z of Year Group/Phase Leadership - an introduction to the role, sharing and modelling the school vision, building team relationships and setting high expectations. Gap task.

Day 2 - 8th November 2018, Beechwood Junior School, 9:00am – 4:00pm: effective monitoring, scrutiny and moderation followed by shared scrutiny session on an agreed area of focus. Gap task.

Day 3 - 15th January 2019, Beechwood Junior School, 9:00am – 4:00pm:
holding others to account, difficult conversations, coaching and mentoring followed by shared scrutiny session on an agreed area of focus. Gap task.

Day 4 - 27 February 2019, Beechwood Junior School, 9:00am – 4:00pm:
data analysis, statistical groups, pupil progress, reporting to senior leaders and Ofsted followed by shared scrutiny session on an agreed area of focus. Gap task.

The programme will be facilitated by Tania Cotton and SLE’s from across the Hamwic Alliance
