Mathematics is a subject that intimidates many students, particularly women and underrepresented groups, but it is not an impossible barrier to overcome. With a growth mindset, strong math identity and networks of support, students can thrive and succeed in college math. This session will provide faculty an opportunity to identify barriers to math success and how to apply appreciative teaching strategies that foster mindsets to succeed in mathematics and college overall.
Dr. Jhenai Chandler, Dr. Lawanda Cummings and Dr. Jesse Ford will facilitate engaging sessions that provide faculty opportunities to develop their own appreciative teaching strategies to utilize within their courses.
