Részletek

Our parent & child group at The Community Farm in Chew Magna for children aged 18 months - 5 years and their parents / carers.

Spending time in nature from an early age has a whole host of physical and cognitive benefits as well as helping shape life-long positive environmental attitudes. The ever-changing surroundings on the farm on both the fields and wild spaces, means that there is always something new for children to explore (and taste!) and during this process they inevitably become more connected with nature, how food is grown and how it changes through the seasons.

What to Expect

Claire Rosling, founder of Earthwise will be leading the sessions with a Forest School ethos, encouraging children to explore the nature around them and follow their interests - whether that is cooking up a storm in the Mud Cafe, cooking a snack over the campfire, exploring what lives in the pond or getting stuck in with a seasonal craft activity - learning is often richest during self-directed play. The activities will be in line with the seasons and will involve natural crafts, planting, maintaining and tasting crops and exploring the incredible wildlife at the farm! During each session we will come together for nature inspired songs, stories and snacks.

Our sessions are not just about the little ones! Spending time outdoors with friendly familiar faces in a beautiful natural environment is a wonderful opportunity for you, as a parent or carer (and a human being!) to unwind, connect with others and watch your child happily at play.

Tea and coffee will be provided for accompanying adults and hot chocolate for little ones.

In line with the forest school ethos, we follow the interests of the children and plan future activities based on our observations. As such, Forest School is a long-term process and we ask participants to commit to a half-term block in advance however new group members can book a trial session before commiting.

If you and/or your child test positive for covid-19 you are advised to self-isolate and we are unable to refund or credit these sessions however we will keep your space for you for when you can return.
