Privacy law has been in the global spotlight for some time now, following the introduction of the GDPR in May last year; recent changes to privacy law in Australia and California; and of course the introduction and passage through the New Zealand Parliament of the Privacy Bill. As individuals become more and more familiar with the way in which their personal information can be exploited, and the data protection practices of all organisations – especially those operating in the online space – are placed under increased scrutiny, it is more and more important for in-house counsel to understand the legal and reputational risks faced.

Join Hayley Miller as she updates you on the latest global trends in privacy law; summarises the changes to the Privacy Bill arising out of the Justice Committee’s report back to Parliament (and provides their insights on what other changes might filter through before the Bill becomes law); and provides you with practical tips as to what you can be doing now to comply with domestic and international privacy regulation in the context of today’s global digital economy.
