Details

Working with psychedelic and non-ordinary state experiences can bring complex clinical material into the room.

Clients may have identity shifts, relational changes, grief, spiritual or symbolic material, new understandings of themselves, or experiences that are difficult to organise and make sense of.

This ongoing group supervision offers practitioners a place to bring de-identified clinical material and work through it with Nigel Denning (MA, MPsych).

Sessions will be informed by the Metacognitive Psychedelic Integration framework and IP&M’s Developmental Map. Participants will see these frameworks applied in real time through case formulation, discussion and shared clinical reflection.

The group is open to anyone working with clients who have experienced psychedelic and non-ordinary state experiences. It is designed to support ongoing professional development and help practitioners work with greater clarity and confidence.

Practitioners who want to study the MPI framework in greater depth can also complete our Psychedelic Integration in Clinical Practice Online Course.

About Nigel Denning
Nigel Denning is a Counselling Psychologist, educator and clinical supervisor with nearly 40 years of experience working with psychedelic and non-ordinary states of consciousness.

He has been at the forefront of bringing psychedelic-assisted therapy, transpersonal psychology and Holotropic Breathwork into contemporary clinical practice in Australia.

Nigel began working with non-ordinary states in 1986. He later trained extensively in Stanislav Grof’s lineage and worked alongside Grof for more than a decade.

Across his career, Nigel has facilitated more than 25,000 hours of individual work and 10,000 hours of group work with non-ordinary states. He has supported more than 5,000 people and trained over 300 clinicians.

He is a MAPS-trained clinician and has served as co-lead therapist on three psychedelic clinical trials. He also co-developed the Certificate of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy for Mind Medicine Australia.

Nigel’s work extends to psychedelic crisis care and spiritual emergency. He co-founded a Spiritual Emergency Centre in collaboration with Tav Sparks, building on the work of Stanislav Grof.

He is also a Fellow of the Australian National University and has studied Tibetan contemplative meditation and attachment repair with Dr Daniel P. Brown from Harvard Medical School.

His career bridges the pioneering foundations of psychedelic psychotherapy with the clinical needs of practitioners working in the field today.
