ENGLISH AFTERNOON TEA BAKING CLASS
Come and learn to create your own afternoon tea party. In this fun and informative class Caroline will teach you the time-honoured baking techniques and secrets that used to be passed down from generation to generation. You can learn her closely guarded recipes and methods to create feather light Victoria Sponge Cake, traditional airy scones, and crumbly melt-in-the-mouth shortbread time after time.
You will be using basic tools; wooden spoons and knives, plus advice on which electrical machines to use for best effect for each technique. Caroline will also provide tips on how to get the best out of your oven and other little skills that embody the 'elegant economy' that shaped English domestic life in the 18th and 19th Centuries.
HANDS-ON BAKING WORKSHOP: in which you bake your own Victoria Sponge Cake, Scones and Shortbread.
OUR OWN AFTERNOON TEA PARTY: The cake, scones and shortbread made in the class will be served, along with a selection of home-made finger sandwiches, Cornish clotted cream and Little Scarlet strawberry jam, superior 'English' style teas. Plus conversation about how English tea parties evolved down the centuries and how many different types of 'tea' exist.
RECIPES & CAKE BOX: You will take away the recipes we use during the class and box to transport the remaining cake, scones and shortbread.
