This one-day workshop aims to educate participants on the basics of crisis theory and to teach basic communication skills that are essential for crisis intervention. Topics covered in this workshop include fundamental counselling skills, counselling tools, crisis development, defining crisis, and a crisis intervention counselling model. Basic information on suicide assessment and intervention will be covered. Role plays and other experiential activities will also be incorporated into the workshop.
The workshop is geared to those working or volunteering with individuals in crisis (however working in a service provider capacity is not required), and wanting a basic understanding of crisis counselling skills.
A minimum one-week notice is required to receive refund of registration fee. Email a notice of registration cancellation to ldebrecen@klinic.mb.ca. Notice must provide Booking #, full name of person registered, and session title and date(s).
