Dettagli

Our most popular class, the Leather Craft 101 skills course has been developed to focus on building skills in traditional leather crafting. Working with leather is a meditative artisanal quest for authenticity and quality. Learning this trade can offer a DIY solution to create many items of everyday use. Our Leather Craft 101 course is a beginning skills course that offers hands-on step-by-step leather work instruction. Course highlights include:

Introduction to leather - Sourcing leather and supplies. - The Leather Smith’s Toolbox. - Cutting

Finishing edges - Punching - Hand-stitching. - Finishing edges

Dyeing leather. - Adding hardware - Finishing leather

While this course is geared toward the beginner, those who have some experience with leatherwork will greatly benefit by honing their skills and adding advanced techniques. Students in the Leather Craft 101 course will use remnant leather to learn and perfect the techniques taught during the course. All of this skill-building will lead students to work on several projects including a final project of an envelope clutch, mason jar cozy, or minimalist wallet.

No previous leather smithing experience is needed to be successful in this course.
