Details

Suddenly your adoring, sweet cute puppy has morphed into a monster!

No longer responding to cues you know they know like recall? Having a confidence crisis? Pulling on the lead to say hello to every dog? Or barking at random things?

Don't worry, it's normal! You should expect a regression in your dog's behaviour post 6 months old. As dogs mature they become more interested in social interactions outside their immediate family, they have a greater desire to range further to explore their environment and they may develop new fears or other quirks.

Learn why this change happens and how to nurture and train your dog during this challenging time so that you both emerge better and stronger than before.

This 8 week course will be tailored to meet the needs of each group and will include:

Impulse Control
Recall
Focus
Lead skills
High ratio of trainers per dog
Theory about the adolescent dogs brain
Helping your dog to settle
Weekly Q & A Sessions

This 8 week course takes place in our private secure fields in Matfield, not far from the A21.

*Please note that if your dog has an established reactivity issue (barking and lunging at other dogs, cars or people for example, then you need to book a private assessment session before booking this course as 121 training may be more appropriate for some dogs)

  • This class is suitable for those new to our training classes or whom have had a significant break from classes

*Please read our terms and conditions before booking your course

*Please note that our classes run outdoors

Instructions

Please bring with you:

  • Flat collar or a well fitting harness and lead
  • A 6 to 8 metre training line
  • Treats pouch or bumbag
  • A flat bed or mat for your dog
  • Your dogs favourite toy
  • High value treats (chicken, hot dogs, cheese). Please make sure your treats are soft and cut up into small pieces ready for the class
  • Poo bags

  • Your dog!

We suggest that you bring your dog's bed (or something they would be happy to lie on) as well as a filled Kong or chew. There will be some short breaks for the dogs, and if they become a bit restless, it is useful to have something ready to keep them entertained and happy if needed.
