The Royal Cottage was built as a place to stay for Queen Victoria during her 1859 visit to the nearby Victorian water works which were to supply the growing city of Glasgow clean water. Today it is a comfortable highland escape complete with wood burning stoves, cosy bedrooms and a unbeatable views of the wild surroundings. A secluded and quiet environment that allows you to completely relax, but still only a distance from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.
Royal Cottage can be found on google maps (search Royal Cottage, Stronachlacher) but as mobile reception can be bad in the area it is worth noting some directions as well. From Aberfoyle follow the B829 for 25 minutes along a winding road until you reach a T junction. Turn right for Stronachlacher then take the next right in under 100m where you will see a sign for Royal Cottage. The private road is gated, please leave the gate as you find it. Drive along the single-track road for 5 minutes until Royal Cottage is seen on your left.
Each guest will be responsible for arriving to the Royal Cottage on their own, there is plenty of parking. We'll all plan on arriving around 3pm on the Friday and departing 3pm on the Sunday.
What to bring:
Walking clothes/shoes if you wish to walk - be prepared for all weather
Swimsuit if you wish to swim - maybe a robe or big towel
Comfortable clothes to lounge around in
They provide yoga equipment, but of course bring your own if you wish - especially a blanket and pillow for relaxing yoga.
Some toiletries will be provided, but plan to bring what you need
Cancellations: If we (the hosts) have to cancel the retreat because of new covid restrictions then all guests will get full refunds. If you have to cancel for any reason, please get in touch as soon as possible - refunds will only be granted if space can be filled by another guest.
