Details

Would you like to learn how to grow your own fresh fruit and vegetables, but don't know where to start?

Well come along to our new 4 week course starting on Friday 3rd March. You will learn all you need to know to get started and gain hands-on practice, so that you can give it a go yourself at home with added confidence. You will also receive a mini starter kit to take away, along with your seedlings which you have grown over the duration of the course.

The course will run every Friday afternoon, for four weeks, starting on the 3rd March and finishing on the 24th March.

During the course, we will cover:

Week 1:

  • taking time to connect with our surroundings
  • how to absorb yourself into the moment of sowing seeds
  • an introduction in to different types of compost and soil
  • selecting the right seeds for you to grow, both mentally and physically
  • selecting the right pots for your seeds
  • a focus on fast growing salad crops

Week 2:

  • taking time to connect with our surroundings
  • how to sow and nurture your different seedlings successfully
  • how to 'pot on' your seedlings and 'thin' them out safely
  • a focus on potatoes and root vegetables

Week 3:

  • taking time to connect with our surroundings
  • how and when to water your plants
  • how and when to feed your plants
  • a focus on tomatoes, courgettes, pumpkins and squash

Week 4:

  • how to know when your vegetables are ready to harvest
  • how to harvest your produce
  • a focus on beans, peas and brassica varieties, such as cabbage, kale and broccoli
  • how to continue to sow and nurture seeds at home

Just like us, different seeds need different conditions to thrive, so I will go through a range of seed choices and varieties including flowers and vegetables.

You will leave hopefully full of knowledge and a bit more confident and relaxed.

The workshop includes all materials, light refreshments, comprehensive notes, a tour of the vegetable garden and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

This workshop takes places outdoors at our garden within Craig-Y-Nos Country Park. Group size - 8 people.

Life at No.27 is a social enterprise and 10% of your ticket price goes towards our community wellbeing work.
