Hedgelaying Weekend for Beginners - 2 Day Course - 5 & 6 December 2020

Saturday, 5 December '20   9:45am – 4pm GMT
Rutland Water Volunteer Training Centre, Oakham Road, Hambleton, Oakham, RUTLAND, LE15 8TL
Cancelled due to lockdown restrictions

Details

On this 2 day course you will have a brief introduction to this ancient art, learn what it involves, when to hedge-lay and how. You will lay your own section of hedge.
The course is run by experienced hedge layer John Shone.
You will be using mainly hand tools such as axes and bill-hooks though some modern tools such as bow saws and loppers may be used occasionally.
The course takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 9.45 am until 4pm each day.

Instructions

We will provide all the tools that you need but if you have any hedge-laying tools bring them along. They may be useful.
This is a very practical course so stout footwear and rough gardening clothes are recommended plus waterproofs. A peaked cap can be very useful too.
Bring your own refreshments including plenty of water to drink.
Please note: If the weather becomes particularly bad on either day and we judge it is unsafe to use the tools, the course may finish ahead of schedule.
