The Minster Teaching School Alliance, in collaboration with Carlton Le Willows Academy, is pleased to offer an hour long twilight session on Cognitive Load Theory and how it can be used to shape teaching and learning. This session will also draw on the 7 principles taken from the book “Making Every Lesson Count” by Shaun Allison and Andy Tharby and how these concepts work together to ensure “sticky teaching” and “sticky learning”.
In addition, at no extra cost, there will be an opportunity to attend the following 30 minute small group workshops, providing further research on cognitive load and how it relates to aspects of the “Every Lesson Counts” framework. Workshops will include practical guidance on effective practice.
Workshop 1: A “sticky” approach to challenge and explanation
Workshop 2: A “sticky” approach to scaffolding and modelling
Workshop 3: A “sticky” approach to deliberate practice
