Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) Health and Care Partnership is proud to support and promote UK Disability History Month (UKDHM) 2022.
UKDHM is taking place from Wednesday 16 November to Friday 16 December 2022. Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) UK Disability History Month: in conversation is one of a series of exciting sessions to mark this important event.
About UK Disability History Month
UKDHM is an annual event which grew from the UK disability rights movement and it provides a platform to focus on the history of the struggle disabled people continue to face for equality and human rights.
It also provides an opportunity for the valuable contributions of disabled people to be acknowledged and celebrated, for us to focus on reducing the inequalities disabled people experience and to raise awareness of the ‘everyday ableism’ disabled people face.
Colleagues from across health and social care in HNY are joining members of the Disabled Staff Network of Networks to discuss the theme for this UKDHM – ‘disability, health and wellbeing’.
‘Humber and North Yorkshire UK Disability History Month: in conversation’ will run as a virtual discussion panel and is taking place on Monday 5 December 2022 from 2.30-4pm.
From ableism to able-passing, different models of disability to the diversity of our disabled communities; join our group of disabled colleagues as we discuss our lived experiences of living and working across HNY.
Our exciting group of panelists have diverse lived experiences of disability. The group features colleagues from NHS trusts, emergency services, social care and local authorities and includes:
This event is open to all colleagues working in health and care across HNY - all are welcome to come along and listen to this important discussion.
