Welcome to NurtureYou Yoga, Winchester!
My Hatha, Yin and Chair based Yoga classes have a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, where you will feel valued and, with regular practice, you will reach your full potential, whatever that might be. I guarantee that your body and mind will feel so much better after each class, and even better with regular attendance.

Why you should give it a go?
Yoga improves flexibility, posture, strength and balance; and reduces aches and pains (including lower back pain), high blood pressure, and heart disease.
At an emotional level yoga helps reduce depression, anxiety and stress. With regular practice, you will start to move more easily and feel better.

What will I do?
Sessions, suitable for more advanced students and beginners alike, typically include warm up stretches; different postures (Asana), adapted for every level; breathing exercises (Pranayama); and a short meditation (Dhyana) or lovely relaxation to finish on. I always offer options so everybody feels included and works safely at their own level.

Can I do yoga in a chair?
Yes, you most certainly can! Seated and sit-to-stand classes are very effective and improve breathing, strength, flexibility and balance. My Gentle Years Yoga© weekly chair based class at Crawley Village Hall, Hampshire is just right for you, if getting up and down from the floor is difficult or you'd just value a gentle yet effective introduction or re-introduction to yoga. Students who would like to do some moves on the floor are also welcome. The aim is to meet each student where their body is. Please bring your own mat along to place under your chair.
I am a fully qualified and experienced Gentle Years Yoga© Teacher, one of only a handful currently living in Hampshire. This means I am able to offer my chair based yoga students this pioneering programme, owned and developed by the British Wheel of Yoga, the Governing Body for Yoga in the UK. And at the last class in each course, we sit down to enjoy free coffee and homemade cake together!

Am I too old for yoga?
Definitely not. Older adults often start yoga in their 70s; and several of my students are in their 80s and 90s. Gentle Years Yoga©, an accessible movement practice, has been specifically designed with older adults in mind, many of whom may have two or more conditions and hip and/or knee replacements. Mid-life students, some of whom may be recovering from injury or ill health, also benefit from this gentle approach and the innovative modifications.

Isn't it just for women?
Certainly not! Men really enjoy my classes too.

What do I wear?
Something warm and comfortable with layers to take on or off as needed. For chair based yoga, loose-fitting trousers, grippy socks and a mat under your chair are ideal, especially, for sit-to-stand and balance work.

Do you have any offers to help me get started?
Yes, a Special 3 for 2 Offer on all my private 1:1 & 1:2 yoga classes. Classes must be of the same length and taken within six weeks of the first booked session. They can either be in my Winchester studio, your home or online with the recording to practice between sessions.
