This is a unique opportunity to study portraiture under one of New Zealand's most notable and respected figurative artists.
This class will focus on realist techniques in portrait drawing. Students will draw several portraits completed over five days using a range of pencils, charcoal, blenders and chalk pastels. The morning session will involve copying from selected master portrait drawings. Methods taught will focus on tone, light, proportion and anatomical structure.
Techniques learnt in the morning session will be applied to drawing from a live model in the afternoon. Students will receive one to one feedback with demonstrations and discussions on principles of light, and form.
