Instructor: Robert Schultz
This three-day class is in honor of instructor Robert’s blacksmithing mentors Jim Batson and Chuck Patrick, who taught him everything he knows about knife-making. Students will begin by forging a blade of high carbon steel, which will then be heat-treated (hardened and tempered) to create a very useful, edge-holding knife. Choose antler, bone, or hardwood for your handle material, and apply fittings of forged or poured non-ferrous metals. All finishing will be done using files, stones, and sandpaper.
