Details

Food allergies now affect 1 in 20 children and 2 in 100 adults in Australia. For someone with food allergies, even a trace of their allergen could be deadly. Recent studies reveal most severe food-related emergencies occur while eating out.
It’s critical that your all your food service staff are fully aware of the serious risk food allergies pose.

Currently there is no cure for food allergy, so avoidance is the only prevention.

This interactive and engaging course will benefit all staff involved in food businesses or food handling. This course outlines the differences between allergies and intolerances. The information provided in this course is essential for all health workers to prevent exposure to allergens for the individuals in our care. By the end of this course, you will have an appreciation for the different types of allergens, consequences of exposure, symptoms to look out for and an understanding of the different dietary codes you may come across on a daily basis.

OSCAR Care Groups food allergy awareness course has been specifically designed for staff working in the Aged Care, Child Care & Australian food service industry.

During this program you will learn about:

• Food allergies and intolerances

• Communicate with customers and kitchen staff regarding food allergies

• Customers with allergies – what to do
