Your Open Climb Snowdon day will run as follows:
0845 - Meet your Mountain Leader outside Snowdon Mountain Railway Station for welcome, group briefing and kit check
0900 - Option to travel to different walk start point* (by bus or taxi - up to £4 pp)
0945 - Latest departure time from chosen walk start point
1300 - Arrival at Snowdon summit
1330 - Depart Snowdon summit via Llanberis Path
1700 - Arrival back into Llanberis / car parks
*For Open Climb Snowdon days we plan to use the Pyg Track or Miners Track in ascent, unless otherwise stated. Please check current Welsh Government advice on wearing face masks on public transport and taxi transportation. We can also opt to walk up and down the Llanberis Path, which does not require any transport.
If you are travelling to Llanberis by car, please park appropriately in public car parks as you may be liable to a parking fine if found parked irresponsibly. The nearest public car parks are in front of the Snowdonia Mountain Railway (on the opposite side of the road) and behind the Snowdon Mountain Railway buildings, accessed from Victoria Terrace. Both car parks charge for parking.
Rucksack – at least 25 litres
Rucksack liner (or bin bag) – to keep rain out!
Sturdy, comfy walking boots or shoes with ankle support and grippy sole (smooth soled, casual trainers are not suitable)
Comfortable, thick walking socks
Face covering/mask (in case needed or advised by Mountain Leader to wear)
Personal Hand Sanitiser
Plastic (nitrile) gloves (in case needed or advised by Mountain Leader to wear)
Base Layer/T-shirt (not cotton)
Comfortable walking trousers (not jeans)
Spare warm layer in rucksack ( + 1 more for early Spring/late Autumn temperatures)
Waterproof jacket - essential
Waterproof trousers – essential (and separate to your walking trousers)
Warm hat - essential
Warm gloves – essential
Headtorch (especially in early Spring or late Autumn)
At least 1.5 litres water in a re-usable bottle (please do not discard plastic bottles on the mountain)
Pack lunch/snacks/sweets and rubbish bag to take items home in (please do not leave fruit peel or litter on mountains)
Trekking poles (highly recommended for descending and rocky steps)
Suncream/Sunglasses/Sun Hat (for hot summer days)
Toilet tissue and a bad to keep your used toilet tissues in (do not discard tissue on the mountain)
Mobile Phone in a waterproof case/bag
Battery charger pack/lead for your mobile phone
First Aid kit – personal blister protection, personal medication, painkillers, plasters
