Active in Mind is a Youth Sports Trust project which uses psychosocial tools, stress-busting strategies, peer mentoring and physical activity to support young people experiencing mental wellbeing issues. It can be used as an early educational tool to support positive mental health across your school. The project uses trained peer mentors to support the well-being of students in school.
Sarah Johnson (Trust Director of PE, Redhill Trust) was involved in the pilot phase of this project, has facilitated the course at Redhill for five years and supported colleagues in other schools to deliver it in their setting.
"As an early intervention to support well-being, Active in Mind has become so important to us at Redhill. We have had many students benefit from the project and go on to not only thrive personally, but to want to use their knowledge and experience to support their peers that are struggling. As a teacher, it is the most rewarding project I've ever been involved in and has given me a chance to work with the most extraordinary students" Sarah Johnson
