Space @ Waikato Playcentres is a programme mainly for first time parents and their babies. The Space programme runs for 3 to 4 terms (approximately 30-40 weeks). Groups meet every week during the school term in 7 different locations; St Andrews, Nawton, Hamilton East, Paterson Street, Morrinsville, Cambridge and Leamington Playcentres. Sessions are run by Space trained facilitators.

The Space Programme has two focus areas, the first being The Heart of Parenting & The Growing Child. The second focus is on Exploring Play and concentrates on providing play experiences for the infants alongside their parents. There is a range of discussion topics covered and may vary according to group interests or needs. Occasionally guest speakers are invited to deliver specialized topics.

Songs, music/movement, rhymes and books
Discussion or guest speaker on the topic of the week.
Continuing opportunities for play throughout the session, including Heuristic play, playfulness and tactile experiences

Families enroll at one centre that is running Space, and commit to attending that programme regularly. Babies joining a new Space session are generally between 3 weeks and 4 months of age and parents stay on session with their babies.

Due to the structure of the Space programme, it is necessary to group together babies of similar ages. It may be necessary to travel to a centre that is running a Space programme appropriate for your baby's age and development

To make a booking click on the desired programme, select, proceed, book now and complete details requested. If you baby is not born yet write TBA. The booking you make, reserves your place for the duration of the programme.

New Joining Fee : $230 for programmes staring from February 5th 2018. The $230 fee invoice will be emailed to you within two weeks of your group starting. The invoice will give you the following payment options to choose from:
• Full payment via internet banking or through any branch of ASB
• Weekly instalments over the first 10 weeks of the programme ($23.00 per week for 10 weeks)
• Termly instalments of $57.50 on week 1, 10, 20 and 30 of the programme

WINZ Child Care Subsidies are available for Space @ Playcentre Aotearoa programmes. The WINZ Child Care subsidy is ‘means’ tested and requires both parents to disclose financial information. If you would like forms sent to you please email central.programmes@playcentre.org.nz. The subsidy covers the full cost of the programme.

WAIT LISTS - If the course you want to join is fully booked you can join the wait list - please click on the session you want to join below, then click the Join Wait List box and fill in the details. If the wait list becomes numerous we are often able to start another group, please register on the waitlist so we can see who is waiting to join.

  • The joining fee is reduced to $ 172.50 (full fee is $230) options of paying termly $57.50 per term or in the first 10 weeks of joining. Participants will be invoiced after there first session joining.
