In this life drawing course, students will draw from the nude model using a range of materials including charcoal, chalk and pencil.
Beginning with a series of quick poses, students will be encouraged to explore gestural drawing by paying close attention to the inner curve of the pose. Drawing the inner curve provides a deeper understanding of the human form, adding depth and vitality to the drawn figure.
The history of the gestural curve will be discussed with reference to William Hogarth’s text Line of Beauty. Gesture and action drawing will be demonstrated to students’, highlighting discussed concepts and principles.
