The governing body has a key strategic role in the financial management of an academy, and in ensuring financial systems and procedures are correctly managed.

This workshop will help governors to:

  • Secure effective internal audit arrangements
  • Manage conflicts of interest and loyalty

The workshop is facilitated by Graeme Hornsby, who has extensive experience as a School Business Manager and Clerk to academy boards and governing bodies. He is a regular and well-regarded speaker and trainer at events for governors, clerks and school leaders. Graeme is a fellow of the ISBL and works with ASCL, The Key, New Schools Network and ICSA. His consultancy work supports schools and trusts with governance, business management and strategic financial planning. Graeme also undertakes internal audit work in academy trusts.
